With the NHL’s return to play starting this Saturday, August 1, 2020, it was about time the podcast crew got back together to talk hockey.
Armed with large adult slushies, the HPC podcast crew cover and predict all 8 play-in series, talk Seattle Kraken, NHL players in the Olympics, the NHL draft lottery fiasco, and more.
The Seattle Kraken were officially announced… and fandom quickly ensued.
NHL Players are returning to the Winter Olympics in 2022 & 2026 barring an agreement with the IIHF/IOC. Dear diary, jackpot!
Everyone except Matt agrees the NHL Draft Lottery was a complete fiasco. One of the 16 teams participating in a play-in series will ultimately secure the 1st overall pick for the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
Regardless if you do or don’t like the NHL’s return-to-play plan, they expect to save $500 million by salvaging the playoffs via ad revenue. Those are a lot of dollars to ignore.
And have you seen some of the videos NHL teams have been sharing of their thoroughbreds practicing??
Tyler Seguin snipes 6’7″ Ben Bishop…
And who doesn’t love a slow mo shot of Pettersson’s one timer?!
And the boys had to breakdown and predict the 8 play-in series…
Plus, the many goalie controversies around the league entering the play-in series and playoffs. Who would you start in net?
