April 10, 1991: Wayne Gretzky decided to etch himself in the NHL record books once again, scoring his 93rd playoff goal to pass Jarri Kurri‘s benchmark of 92.
The Los Angeles Kings entered game 4 in Vancouver down 2-1 in the 1991 Smythe Division Semi-Finals, looking to even the series before returning home for game 5.

Kelly Hrudey, possibly the worst dressed goalie of all time, was stellar in net for the Kings, stopping 20 of 21 shots against.
The only puck that got behind the netminder was a power-play deflection from Cliff Ronning who was immediately high-sticked by Marty McSorley – no surprise there!
But it was Gretzky’s game-winning goal, the 93rd playoff goal of his career, scored at 13:11 of the 1st period that added another NHL record to his resume: most playoff goals scored in NHL history!
In true goal scorer fashion, The Great One heads to the front of the net where he corrals a Rob Blake rebound on his backhand and buries the puck under the bar and over a sprawling Kirk McLean.
The Kings didn’t look back from there with Dave Taylor, Tony Granato, Mike Donnelly, and Steve Duchesne scoring goals for a 6-1 final, evening the series at two games apiece.
